Alpha School is happy to offer a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) as part of the school staff.
Here at Alpha School we maintain a group of staff who have been trained in Non-violent Crisis Intervention through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), an international organization with an excellent reputation for educating staff in safe, respectful and noninvasive methods for managing disruptive and assaultive behaviors.
The core philosophy behind the CPI organization is to maintain the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of both students and staff members. The ultimate objective is to de-escalate difficult situations that arise as early as possible by understanding students’ anxieties, body language and behaviors.
Alpha School has a permanent crisis team who, along with the instructional and related services staff, provide an immediate response to any problem within the school at the earliest stages. The entire staff is trained several times a year, with a level of training depending upon their role.
The responsibilities of the behaviorist include, but are not limited to:
- Direct Staff Training
- Design and Implementation of Data Collection
- Data Analysis to Monitor and Determine the Effectiveness of Interventions
- Parent Assistance and Training
- Collaborative efforts with the classroom teacher to minimize behaviors in the academic and school settings
Some of the Alpha School Behavior Therapy Services Include:
- Application of behavioral based interventions and techniques including the reduction and/or elimination of maladaptive behaviors
- Functional Behavioral Assessments
- Collaboration with Instructional Staff and Related Service Professionals
- Behavior Intervention Plan Development
- Curriculum Development based on the needs of the Individual

Meet Whitney Lott – Alpha School's School Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Hi! My name is Whitney Lott, and I am the BCBA here at Alpha School. I received my Bachelor's degree from Centenary University and my Masters in Education in Autism and ABA from Monmouth University. I joined Alpha School in November 2024 and I am excited to work with such a dedicated and collaborative team. I have worked with students with disabilities in multiple settings, including home, school and clinic. My favorite part of being a BCBA is the opportunity to make an individualized and positive impact with each student. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, going for walks with my dog, and going to the beach.
