Sensory Integration and Sensory Room
At Alpha School, sensory integration is an important component of supporting student regulation, engagement, and readiness to learn. We recognize that many students benefit from structured sensory input to help them maintain focus, manage emotions, and participate successfully throughout the school day.
Our sensory room was thoughtfully designed by our Occupational Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst to provide both scheduled and as-needed sensory support for students. This collaborative approach ensures that sensory strategies are aligned with each student’s individual needs and integrated into their overall program.
The sensory room offers a controlled, supportive environment where students can access a variety of sensory experiences tailored to promote regulation. These may include activities that provide calming or alerting input, depending on the student’s
needs at a given time.
Sensory supports are used proactively and responsively, including:
- Scheduled sensory breaks built into a student’s daily routine
- As-needed access to support regulation during times of dysregulation
- Integration of sensory strategies within classroom and therapy settings
Our team closely monitors each student’s response to sensory input and adjusts supports accordingly to ensure effectiveness and consistency across environments.
Through the use of sensory integration strategies and our dedicated sensory space, students are better able to regulate their bodies, sustain attention, and engage meaningfully in learning and social experiences.

Meet Whitney Lott – Alpha School's School Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Hi! My name is Whitney Lott, and I am the BCBA here at Alpha School. I received my Bachelor's degree from Centenary University and my Masters in Education in Autism and ABA from Monmouth University. I joined Alpha School in November 2024 and I am excited to work with such a dedicated and collaborative team. I have worked with students with disabilities in multiple settings, including home, school and clinic. My favorite part of being a BCBA is the opportunity to make an individualized and positive impact with each student. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, going for walks with my dog, and going to the beach.
